The Congregation of Servants of Mary is originated in France in the year 1842. The Generalate is at Anglet in France. The Congregation of Servants of Mary is a pontifical International Missionary Congregation of women religious founded by Blessed Louis Edward Cestac, on January 6, 1842 at Bayonne, in France. He served as vicar of the Cathedral in Bayonne where he gave his full attention to the poor and the down trodden after the French Revolution, particularly for young women and girls.
The congregation started in India, in the state of Tamilnadu, Erode district in the diocese of Udagamandalam, in the year 1982. In India we are working in the states of Andhra, Tamilnadu, Karnataka Chhattisgarh and Kerala. We work for the welfare of the poor in the field of education, social work, health care, pastoral work, home for the aged and family apostolate.
